Elegant Golf Book Interior Layout
Project goal
Create an elegant but visually interesting layout for a book of essays on golf, matching style to the provided book jacket design. Focus on typographic design. Echo back to famous golf book, Harvey Penick's Little Red Book, for title page design.
After discussing the client's vision for his book, I designed a sample chapter opening page to serve as a template for the rest of the book. With a few refinements we settled on a font size and spacing on the large end of standard book text to make it welcoming for readers with vision impairments without becoming awkward for other readers. We discussed and refined details such as the dropcaps, creating a standardized location to start the text of each chapter, chapter number decoration, and running headers.
Once the template was finalized, I created a full layout of the book of essays and assembled the dust jacket with the cover design provided by the client. I submitted the final files to IngramSpark for printing on demand. The client was very pleased with the result.
